Born and raised in Southern Louisiana, Nick J. Lewis was influenced early on in life by his father - a dynamic musician in his own rite. "I grew up listening to my dad's old LPs and 45s, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Sly and the Family Stone, Fats Domino, Tower Of Power, Stax, Motown, ect." Nick revealed his musical talent at the age of nine playing trumpet and bass throughout grade school and high school. Later, he continued his musical development by working with Baton Rouge and New Orleans Blues and Jazz artists including Henry Gray, Troy Turner, Michael Ward, Kenny Neal, and Herman Jackson, to name a few. In 2001, Nick moved to Austin, Texas to perform with a number of elite live music bands. Now after thirty years of sharpening his skills, Nick has over 30 albums to his credit with artists ranging from rap to country. He has toured nationally and internationally with top-notch, high profile artists such as Sister Sledge, Wayne Toups, and Terrance Simien. Personally, Nick is easy-going, versatile, highly committed to his work, and committed to broadening his scope of the music world. Professionally, the power-packed energy, passion, and intensity of Nick's funky bass grooves leave no doubt that Nick is truly an artist who is "at one with his bass."
